COMMUNITY EDUCATION & OUTREACH

Bringing the Arts to Our Community

Cleveland Ballet has continued to advance its educational outreach initiatives to service area school children, partnering with Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Cleveland Browns Foundation Stay in the Game! Network, Boys and Girls Club and Girl Scouts of America. This season area youth will experience The Nutcracker and Aurora: A Sleeping Beauty Story courtesy of Ohio Arts Council, Edwin D. Northup II Fund (a PNC Charitable Trust), Akron Community Foundation, and Phyllis H. & William H. Evans Charitable Foundation where students will be provided performance tickets, transportation assistance and study guides that align with curriculum in the classroom.

Cleveland Ballet believes, and education studies show, that integrating high-quality arts education and performance immersion is a catalyst for fueling creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem solving, and social and emotional learning in our students. Without the support of our community donors and partners these programs would not be available. If you would like to support one of our educational programs, please visit the link below.

What Our Outreach Partners Say:

"Our seats were great - we were really able to see the performance up close and personal. The dance itself was amazing to watch, relaxing, and so skillfully performed. Thank you for making these opportunities available to the youth and staff at Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio!"

- Kim Shemo, Music Program Manager

for Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Ohio

DANCE CHANCE CLEVELAND

In 2015, School of Cleveland Ballet embarked on an exciting new journey; beginning a dance education outreach program with Warrensville Heights Schools. This program has since grown and we now partner with many schools in the greater Cleveland area. Our outreach program allows students the opportunity to experience ballet in a professional and fun environment. Students come to not only learn ballet, but they learn self-discipline, respect, history and an appreciation for the arts. This experience is an outstanding and truly unique opportunity for the students.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF NORTHEAST OHIO

A 14-week after school residency program for youth ages 7-10 are offered world-class ballet lessons. Youth are provided ballet leotards, tights, and shoes and get to work with our company dancers and professional staff to practice foundational dance practices.

CLEVELAND BROWNS STAY IN THE GAME! NETWORK

A unique program in partnership with the Browns Foundation that prioritizes attendance by providing resources aimed at tackling chronic absenteeism. Students get to experience in-school performances by Cleveland Ballet as a reward for having good attendance and improving their grades. Additionally, Cleveland Ballet provides tickets to the company's productions at Playhouse Square to select students improving in the classroom.

BALLET TELLS A STORY

A literacy program for students K-12 that provides transportation assistance as needed, tickets, and study guides to Cleveland Ballet's performances at Playhouse Square. Grade specific study guides are tailored to fit each production and are aligned with the curriculum in the classroom, furthering engagement from performance to classroom learning. Study guides are written by volunteer, author and Ohio licensed educator Linda Wagner.

GIRL SCOUTS OF AMERICA

Cleveland Ballet and the Girl Scouts of America have worked closely for a number of years. Troops are given the opportunity to see one of the company's amazing ballets and get to stay after the show for a Q&A with the dancers and even take photos with our wonderful company members!

CLEVELAND PLAYHOUSE
