Cleveland Ballet Trainee Program:
Auditions

Applications and audition materials are currently being accepted for the 2024-2025 season! Video applications will be accepted until April 1, 2024. There is NO FEE to submit audition materials. Artists wishing to be involved in the Trainee Program must be 18-24 years of age and at an advanced level of ballet technique. Ladies must also be proficient and comfortable working in pointe shoes.

Tuition:

  • $5,000 per 40-week term.

  • Cleveland Ballet is unable to provide housing at this time; trainee artists are responsible for their own housing.

  • A letter of recommendation from a ballet teacher, director, or choreographer.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photos must be unedited and showcase the full length of the body.

Ladies: Black leotard, pink skin-toned tights, pointe shoes, no skirt.

Gentlemen: White T-shirt, black tights, black technique shoes.

  1. Fifth position of feet, arms in second position facing the camera.

  2. Tendu a la seconde, arms in second position facing the camera.

  3. First arabesque en pointe - profile

  4. First arabesque en pointe – facing the camera

  5. Attitude derrière – profile

  6. Recent Headshot

VIDEO MATERIALS

Videos must be uploaded to YouTube as an unlisted video and sent to traineeauditions@clevelandballet.org along with your resume and photography requirements:

  • Video should be no more than 20 minutes in length.

  • The full body must be shown throughout the entirety of the video.

  • A ballet barre should not be used in any part of the video. Please dance in the center of location. Please include:

  1. Adagio:

    • Display port de bras, developpe, arabesque, and attitude.

    • Display musicality.

  2. Pirouettes:

    • Double or triple en dehors and en dedans.

    • Across the floor turn sequence.

  3. Petite and Grand allegro combinations:

    • jetes, assembles, sissones, beats, and connecting steps, etc.

  4. Contemporary Solo:

    • En pointe is optional for ladies.

  5. Men only:

    •  Tours en l’air

    • Jump and/or turn manège

  6. Ladies only:

    • Classical variation en pointe
